My Rating

  • I prefer ‘Tasty Khichdi’

Thank You rating: 4 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 10 Apr 2011)

After a big hit of ‘No Entry’ which was released in the year 2005, Anees Bazmee came up with one super duper flop movie ‘Sandwich’ which was released in the year 2006. However then he came up with two super hit movies, ‘Welcome’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’ which was released in the year 2007 and 2008 respectively. Now again he is back where he was there with flop movie ‘No Problem’ and now let’s see his current ‘Thank You’ shows what results.

Basic storyline is about three husbands and their respective wives, but the main plot revolves around only one husband and his respective wife. Raj (Bobby Deol), Yogi (Sunil Shetty) and Vikram (Irrfan Khan) are three friends and are womanizer husbands. Yogi is already being caught up red handed by his wife Radha (Celina Jaitley) and now she thinks that as men’s are dogs so to pet a new one it’s better to pet the old one. Vikram’s wife Karthika (Rimi Sen) can be called as our 1950’s bhartiya naari who accepts the very dominating nature of his husband and is tolerating his dictatorship and womanizer attitude each and every second. Now the third and final Raj, whose wife Sanjana (Sonam) loves her husband very much but Raj always takes granted his wife and cheats her by having affairs everytime. One day Radha warns Sanjana that all men are dogs and she should use her friend Kishen’s (Akshay) help to investigate on Raj so that she would not be in some misunderstanding state. Kishen is a private detective and he is a specialist in catching womanizer husbands red-handed. Now to know who that person is that is helping their wives, all these husbands hire Kishen only to investigate that private detective person. Kishen does a trick and convinces Raj and Vikram that the person is nobody other than his friend Yogi. Fights started and finally Yogi is separated from Raj and Vikram’s gang. Now he started his further tricks and one fine day Raj’s and Vikram’s real scams and scandals came in front of their wives. In depression Sanjana decides to suicide but Kishen convinces that he will bring back her original Raj in to her life. This part of story continues till the end, with a small part of Vikram’s story added in it, which finally turns out to be an all well that ends well kind of story when the film completes.

Annes Bazmee has added all his masala and old recipes which he has used in his each and every movie and also from other hit movies, but at the ended with a ‘Non-Tasty Khichdi’ which can be enjoyed only for some selected people, in general the people who have some fast and can have this non-tasty khichdi. In short the movie is only for those people and only those people who will enjoy this flick will be the audiences who just often watch movies, very occasionally watch movies, not a typical fond of movies and basically who watches once a while in merely three-four months or something. Age group can be anything, but lesser would be youngsters and more would be older.

Direction was on an average good and so do the basic storyline. Overall slapsticks, humor, jokes, comedy and dialogues were on par funny, but very clichéd and these kind of stuff might have seen trillions of times but for only who are hardcore filmy fans and also for those who often watches new releases.

Performances were good but the best one was only given by Irrfan Khan from amongst all others. His comic timing, his dialogue delivery, his reactions and everything was just stupendous. Akshay was on his usual, Bobby was passable and Sunil was Ok. On the ladies side, Sonam looks highly pretty and super hot in blue outfit when she meets Bobby in some hotel. Rimi does impresses but could be much better or I guess a replacement could be a better option. Apart from these all, I just don’t know what was Celina doing and more to that what was Mallika doing in that sizzling song? Celina neither acts in the film, nor she has given that much kind of role length (I guess atleast I can say ‘Thank You’ in this). And about Mallika, she neither sizzles in the song, nor was she doing anything in the song (I guess she was doing her P.T. exercise in the song).

In the entire film, my only favorite scene is the one which I laughed properly was that the one which has Irrfan and Rimi to it, where Irran gets to know that his entire property is now in the hands of his wife and he has removed him from his house. This scene is extreme hilarious which is only watchable and very well supported by the astounding performance given by none other than Irrfan Khan.

    Final Verdict:
As I said earlier, the film is watchable for the ones who are into fast kind of thing and can have fast-recipe-khichdi.

    2. 25+ / 5
