My Rating

  • Good P.T. Exercise…

The Last Airbender rating: 2 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 10 Jul 2010)

If you remember your old school days, there were Physical Training Exercise periods, where our sir’s used to teach us; hands up, hand down, hands on the left, hands on the right, bend to your knees, and such like various exercise. It looks like that our Writer & Director Mr. Manoj Shyamalan has done a lot of P.T Exercise in his school days, I guess he is still using. In the entire movie, that little boy “Aang” (Noah Ringer) is doing nothing and just lifting his hands up, down, left, right and so on. And the rest of the characters were running behind them. I think atleast they should copy “Aang”, atleast the movie would be more laughable.

It’s something magical story which is based in some magical world. “Aang”, a cute little boy, who is the last Avatar to save the world, and is wanted, now by the cruel enemies, called as “Fire Stations”. (Wow…if Ramu will do the remake of this then I am sure he will do name as “Andheri Station” or more similar as “Fire Brigade Stations”). Now everybody in this magical world have some powers, the enemies has the power to control fire, the good guys here were having the power to control the water, poor villagers across the world were having the power to control earth materials, but no one was having the power to control the air. Aang was “The Last Airbender” Avatar who can control the air. But as he was “The Avatar”, which means he came back in this world from the past, 100yrs ago. (Now don’t ask me from where the hell he came back, it’s a long story). He was the only that supreme, by which he can connect to the spiritual world, to their spirit guides, and can have power to make peace in the world. Now this young boy, Aang, was having only one power, i.e. Air power, and now he is on a mission to learn and gain the water power from the masters. And these Fire Stations enemies are trying to stop them, with the help of their King’s son (Dev Patel). The entire movie rotates around this. And finally when Aang have achieved it (at the end of the film), the enemies are now planning to stop him by achieving Earth and Fire power, but now with the help of their King’s daughter. So that means, a plan for sequel 2, or might be 3, 4, 5 and etc. So in short, more P.T exercise, and that means more good health, and more torture to our brain.

    My Comment:
Writer and Director of the movie, Mr. Night Shyamalan, who has given us such a good film like “The Sixth Sense”, has written such a bad story, which actually can be made as a very good movie. But I think he is still doing P.T exercise so that’s why he might be just exhausted and wrote something different. The story actually starts from something, moves on to something, and goes on and on to something, and finally ends up at nothing. The only good thing about this movie is its CGI effects. Too good, remarkable, and out-standing! But the financer is a fool, stupid and an idiot! He has wasted some good amount of money in this CGI effects. Though it’s very impressive, but the way and for what it is being shown, even the Shyamalan don’t know. And about the performances by all the characters, all of them were just running here to there, even that small little kid was not at all impressive through his acting, but still I can atleast rate him, to rest of them, what to rate that would be a big question mark. Only the technical department was very impressive, including CGI effects department, great cinematography, and rest of the things. But just because of the bad screenplay, poorly written story, and awful performances, the movie is not watchable for the small little kids also.

    Final verdict:
Watch it if you guys still interested in learning different kind of P.T. Exercise, but I seriously hope and wish I be the “Last Man-bender” to watch this movie.

    1 / 5
