If you want a clue as to who's going to end up with whom in THE UGLY TRUTH, listen for this line of dialog ("Tap-water is great!") and you shouldn't go wrong.
I'm always skeptical before watching a romantic comedy. I was skeptical before watching this one. I thought it would have the same old rom-com formula, two people hate each other, get to know each other, fall for each other, blahblahblah. But, even though this movie HAS it, it's so well made you can actually buy it!
The acting is very good. The storyline is very funny (don't take children to see it though), witty and sarcastic, raw, honest humor. I laughed like crazy most of the time.
Katherine and Gerard were great and Amazing!
The movie ran smoothly until the girl-falls-for-guy 'romantic' moment. It was a little slow and that part of the road was a bit bumpy and forced. But at the end you believe it.
So I had fun with it. It may not be amazingly well made, but it's very good if you compare it with some other trashy rom-coms, and guaranteed, you will definitely say “worth to spend money!”
Furthermore, though much of the plot revolves around sex and sex advice, the tagline can be described best as "tastefully raunchy" or "polite smut".
Therefore, if you and your date want something in the mainstream of modern sensibilities which is unlikely to leave you cringing, give this short but sweet romantic comedy a go.
