Two is a company, three is a crowd???????

Producer/ Director Vikram Bhatt loves International films and sees that majority of his films are based or inspired by some or other Hollywood film. This one though not out and out inspired, but loosely based on a Korean film. Getting inspired is not a crime, but it has to be properly adapted as per our Indian audience. There have been tons of directors, who have got inspired and have made films, but many of them have been just out and out copy cat, but many have also adapted properly as per our Indian audience. So let’s find out where does this film of Vikram Bhatt belong?

“Three” is a story of a couple Rajiv {Akshay Kapoor} and Anjali {Nausheen Ali Sardar} who are going through a troubled marriage and also bad financial times. Rajiv had suffered a huge loss in his business and anjali is taking care of the household financial matters by giving tuitions to kids. Rajiv demands Anjali to sell off her huge property and use the money in his work, but anjali refuses saying it’s her parent’s memories. Thus she decided to lease a room to an Indian tenant. They select Sanjay {Ashish Chowdhry} who is a musician and gets attracted towards Anjali. Rajiv and Anjalis martial life starts becoming bad to worse and thus leads to an affair of Anjali with Sanjay. They decided to run away and leave Rajiv, but Sanjay wants Anjali to sell the property so that Rajiv does not take advantage of it. At that time Anjali develops Cold feet and decides not to sell the property and also leaves Sanjay. Sanjay woes to take revenge and thus start the chain of twist and turn.

Story is good, though inspired. Screenplay is bit weak in first half, but is quite crisp in the second one. Sadly the dialogs are so clinched to death, all typical and dramatic. Same goes for the flow of the film in the first half which if full of songs and there is hardly any moment going on. But as said the second half has some good twist and turns which makes the film watch able. Camera work by Pravin Bhatt is average and nothing different.

Music is not bad and few songs are good, but nothing to remember. Also the first half has songs coming in fewer intervals.

Director Vishal Pandya has done a decent job but the consistence is missing. His way of story telling is second half was good. Though he could had controlled the first half and also the over the top performance of the male actors.

Akshay Kapoor ham’s throughout the film and tries to give over the top performance. His expressions were so confused and mismatched with the scenes at many times. Luckily for Ashish Chowdhry he dint have to try as he has proven in his past films that he can ham and also give over the top performance. Only savior of the film was Debutant Nausheen Ali Sardar who has performed far better than both her colleagues. She looked good, but lacked the sex appeal this character needed.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?

Dum hai second half mein dum hain, but sadly the weak first half, dialogs and performances by the male actors turns to be negative assets of the film. Oh in case if your are wondering why I dint mention any steamy scenes which were there in the posters and promos, well for that I must say the makers warned us in advance as the movie’s name is Three - Love Lies Betrayal. The movie has many sayings, but I remember a saying that two is a company and Three is a crowd. Sadly I dint find any crowd in the cinema hall. Hardly three people watching the film Inc me. I guess the couple ahead must have been steamier than the film.
