Tabe Tai Hok is a love triangle with a difference , but seems to be more like a dream. The initial sequences resemble nothing else, but a dream. There is Tilottoma who thinks of colours that seem to suffocate her, sometimes she thinks herself of wandering in the corridors of an old palatial house. Then is the crazy painter, Arya who is madly in love with Tilottoma. His desires are purely physical and he sees art as a physical form which is why he is only satisfied if he can paint his creations on a human form instead of a canvas and though he has a muse , yet no one fills his mind as much as Tillotoma who is not willing to give in to Arya. Amrtya, the scion of an old aristocratic family is a psychiatrist in the city, but he continues to live live ‘king size’ in the old palatial house in the outskirts. Both Tillotoma and Arya are his patients. Amartya is aware of the relationship between Arya and Tilottoma and he even marries her. He later on commissions Arya to make paintings of his house which is why Arya comes to stay there and comes to know about Tilottoma and Amartya’s marriage.
Then starts the real game which Tillotoma plays with Arya who is still madly in love with her and has reached a point of no return while drowning himself in a pool of alcohol as he seeks solace. Tilottoma toys with him one night when he is in a drunken stupor when Amartya is away and it leads to disastrous consequences.
The entire story and concept is like a dream instead of reality and besides the pace of the film is a bit too much for most people. All the three leads act quite well. The art direction and the cinematography is very good and the old palatial house looks grand in its resplendent avatar. The film is about 3 souls , all with love in their hearts, but ultimately two people have to forego love and it turns out to be both Arya and Tillotoma who are never quite united because of their differences.
