There are two stories which run parallel. The one story is of Abhimanyu, a wannabe film-director, and the second story is of Krishnakali, a happy home maker, lured in to the world of films. It was Krishnakali's husband Jayanta, who initially instigated his wife to join the films and later struggled to rein her in when it was too late. The Krishna's story moves back and forth to expose her love of the good life as wheel as her loneliness. But some how she was trapped in the make belief world of films from where it was very difficult to return to her original state. So she had to maintain a live-in-relationship with an ageing jatra actor Ranadeb and at the end of the day soak herself in foam and drink whisky. The story of Abhimanyu is the failure whereas that of Krishnakali is a story of success. Abhimanyu comes to a situation to abandon his celluloid dream. Krishnakali also comes to a situation to leave the world of lucre and limelight. But there comes the ray of hope which merges the story of Abhimanyu and Krishnakali at the end.
