R. K. Gupta is a civil engineer and works for Mr. Din Dayal who is a big construction baron. He is in love with Shanti who is a simple girl. Raj and Shanti both decide to tie the knot. When Raj tells this to his widowed mother, she does not approve this relation and tell him that he should marry his boss's daughter Kamini as Din Dayal wants to make Raj partner in his business. Raj, who is very ambitious, ditches Shanti and soon gets married to Kamini. Din Dayal keeps his promise and makes R. K. his partner. Soon Shanti comes to meet R. K. and informs him that she is pregnant. Shanti leaves the city without complaining and gives birth to a baby boy. She raises the child doing many hardships. When she dies, she informs her son, Vijay about his father. Vijay, who is full of anger about the way his mother was treated, decides to move to Delhi and take revenge on his biological father, R. K. Gupta. Vijay meets R. K. Gupta and challenges him in many ways. He groups with Financer Balwant Rai, an old business rival of R. K. Gupta. Vijay starts his own construction company and name it as "Shanti Construction". In order to grow rapidly, Vijay all kinds of method, including bribing R. K. Gupta's employees and creating misundertsanding in his office. In a short time, Vijay becomes the biggest business rival of R. K. Gupta, making him bankrupt. R. K. Gupta is, meanwhile, completely unaware about the Vijay's motive behind this rivalry. Vijay even manages to develop differences between Gupta's family - Shekhar and Babli who are the step siblings of Vijay. R. K. hires a contract killer to kill Vijay, but in the end Vijay comes, and tells him the reason why he has done all these things. R. K. Gupta feels guilty and regrets about his deeds.
