Tum Milo Toh Sahi rating: 7 out of 10(Divya Solgama wrote on 02 Apr 2010)

There are some films which are not big in terms of its budget or stars, but then they have some interesting combination of good actors and a decent story line. People have loved such films and have been watching them on T.V or DVD whenever they see it being broadcast. But such simple, feel good films also misses to impress the box office and mass audience. Very few get things in their favor and rest miss out the bus. Tum Milo To Sahi to claims to have an interesting star cast and a decent story line, let’s find out what happens with it.

“Tum Milo To Sahi” is story of Dilshaad {Dimple Kapadia} who runs a café in heart of Mumbai. Her café connects various people together like a C.E.O of multinational café joints Amit {Sunil Shetty} and his wife Anita {Vidya}, A out of townie student Bunty {Rehan Khan} and his college Shalini {Anjana}. Dilshaad has a great repot with all her customer except a old retired hot headed Subramanium {Nana Patekar}. Amits firm decides to take over Dilshaads café and in that process Amit gives a proposal to Dilshaad. She refuses the offer and thus starts the legal drama where Amit’s firm tries to take over the café by help of ace lawyer {Monish Behel}. How does dilshaad save her café with help of her well wishers and friends is all the film about.

Story is simple and interesting. All the characters are well written and mark their own importance in the film. Screenplay is nice but drags a bit in Sunil Shetty and Rehan Khans stories. But then there are Nana Patekar and Dimples stories which are the best part of the film. They make you glued to the screen. All the fights, talks, etc between Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia are fantastic. You wish that the film should have been of these two interesting characters only. Editing was bit weak in second half as the movie moves with a slow pace. Camera work was average.

Music is ok and goes well with the film, one song could have been avoided.

Director tells us a nice tale of humanity and goodness. His characters are very interesting and total contrast from each other. But his way of narration is weak and at places the film drags with its slow pace. The scenes between Sunil and Vidya could have been reduced and same for Rehan-Anjana. But he dint and thus due to which the film looses it focus and goes bit hay way at times. But then thanks to Dimple Kapadia and Nana Patekar, whose characters keep you in the movie and make you feel good. Maybe a bit more experienced director would had done proper justice to the film

Nana Patekar shines in this film with its interesting character. His mannerism, talking style, etc are funny and enjoyable. Same goes with Dimple Kapadia and when they both come on screen you love their chemistry. Sunil Shetty and Vidya also gives a good performance, but then becomes bit repetitive till the end. Rehan Khan and Anjana along with Monish behel were fine.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?

Dum hain kaafi dum hain, but pace thodi bahut slow hain. With some off-track scenes and songs, the film still keeps you glued to the screen thanks to Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia’s fine performances. Also the feel good factor works in favor of the film. But lack of big stars might not work in favor of the box office results. Still if in for a decent watch, go for it.
