Tusshar Kapoor was born on 20 November 1976 to Bollywood actor Jeetendra and ex-Air Hostess Shobha Kapoor. He is brother of Ekta Kapoor. He has a degree in Liberal Arts and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Tushar studied in Mumbai at Bombay Scottish School and went to University of Michigan to do his MBA. Although he was all set to appear for the IFS (Indian Foreign Service), destiny and Satish Kaushik had other plans in store for him. Tusshar was busy handling home production when he was spotted by director Satish Kaushik, who was looking for a vulnerable and young looking actor for his movie “ Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai” and Tushar fit the bill just right. He made his debut with Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai opposite Kareena Kapoor in 2001 which was a surprise box office hit and he received the Filmfare Best Debut Award. The next two years was followed by a list of box office flops. In 2003 he acted alongside his father in the horror film Kucch To Hai. In 2004 he won acclaim for his role as a shy nerdy boy who has the ability to become invisible in Gayab. After two years, without any major box office successes, he gave a critically acclaimed performance in Khakee (2004) in which he starred opposite film legend Amitabh Bachchan and the film was a moderate success at the box office. He then had his second major box office hit with the comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005). In 2006 he starred in the multi-starrer comedy Golmaal which was a moderate box office success and fetched him another award for his outstanding comic performance. The next two years was followed by a list of box office flops.

His last film, One Two Three had average success at the box-office. Films in the post-production stage and ready for release are Golmaal Returns and C Kompany.

Tusshar has won the Zee Cine Awards in 2002 for the Best Debut Male for Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001). He was nominated by Filmfare in 2007 for the Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006) and won the IIFA Award for the same role. Tusshar has an impressive family background with a very popular film star Jeetendra as father and the Owners of Balaji Televisions Empire – Shobha & Ekta as mother and sister respectively.
