    Definitely makes an Udaan…

Udaan rating: 8 out of 10

The man Vikramaditya Motwane, who assisted in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, associated in Devdas, written the story of Dev D, and now written and directed the movie Udaan. The story is being also written by the none other than Mr. Anurag Kashyap, so the weight age of the film definitely increases. Though the trivia of this film also says that it was set to be originally being released few years back, but somehow got released in 2010. So this also played a vital part related to this movie, regarding how the story and looks would affect the viewers, as well as to the Critic’s ... » read more

    Good Job done!

Udaan rating: 7 out of 10

    By Jinesh shah(26 Jul 2010)

The writing by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyup is real, refreshing, straightforward and effective. The initial few sequences simply communicate the daily lifestyle of the father which the son is attempting to adapt to. But the proceedings keep you riveted because the routine is as much unusual to the viewer as much to Rohan. The continual dominance of the father on the son doesn’t get monotonous, since the prolonged narrative gives time to Rohan to reach the threshold of his tolerance. That justifies, both, the slow pacing and the long length of the film. Also ... » read more

Udaan: A giant leap for Indian Cinema!!!

Udaan rating: 9 out of 10

    By Plaban (23 Jul 2010)

Debutant director Vikramaditya Motwane has chosen a story which touches your heart and will stay in your memory for a long time.

Rohan (Rajat Bermecha) gets expelled from his boarding school for misbehaviour and has to return home. A place he has not been to for a long time and to a person whom he would be meeting after eight years, his father (Ronit Roy). But he does not know that there is another person in the household, whom he hasn’t met yet. His step brother, from a marriage that his father had after his mother passed away, which he is not aware of.

    Udaanful performances…

Udaan rating: 9 out of 10

    By Mitesh Shah(27 Jul 2010)

Rajat Barmecha, the teenaged powerhouse of talent who comes up with a confident, natural and remarkably restrained performance. He has a very neutral face and two very still eyes that are exploited to the hilt by Motwane. Rajat proves that he has much more to him than his cute looks and is an actor to look forward to. The boy not only brings freshness and spontaneity to the enterprise but helps Udaan become an exercise in minimalism. His emotions are so muted, his expressions so understated that his journey is not reduced to a melodramatic drag but a buoyant flight.

    A Late-flight

Udaan rating: 8 out of 10

    By Anirban Bhattacharjee(07 Oct 2010)

Udaan starts its flight in the dark of night. As soon the invigilation of the warden passes away, the life forces jut out of the walls of the boarding to find the vent in sexual purgation as hoped to get promoted in the cinema hall, both from the movie, as well as from the cupid-struck audience. But the mazy night creeps in with all its darkness, knighted by the teachers, fathers, mothers, seniors, and many more. Crippled youth staggers to find its way out of the maze, till fresh air greets at the end of the movie as the new day starts dawning out of the crazy night.

    Picture perfect!

We recently watched this movie with the slightest inkling of what it deals with. we just chanced upon it. Ronit Roy was quite a surprise in this movie portraying a really hatefull character -quite credible. It was a well scripted movie with fresh and talented star cast.'Rohan' was very well played as well. ITs quite a treat for the eyes to see such scripts being dealt with so well. Expect more movies with such deep characters in them. » read more

The whole story is based on a 17yr old boy named Rohan (Rajat Barmecha), who was expelled from his school with his three along friends as they were all caught in watching a semi porn film in a theatre after running from the school’s hostel in the mid-night. Soon all of them were dispersed and were staying with their parents and families. Rohan also moved to his city and was staying with his father, Bhairav Singh (Ronit Roy). Mr. Singh was very rude in nature, no love for anybody, and always does Hitlergiri in front of everyone. His small brother Jimmy (Ram Kapoor) stays ... » read more
