Ugly aur Pagli, is not only the name of the film but probably a description of the type of the film. One could not figure out the genre, even after sitting through the whole movie. Half hearted attempt at emotional commedy probably! But believe me it was void of either
The beginning was slow, with a puke too often. The jokes were predictable, with the usual note being referred to as Gandhi......you get the drift. Somehow the gross sequences had to be created to derive humour. The director seemed obsessed with puking, farting, sweating etc etc
The second half actually was better done up, as some amount of emotion was brought in. But the cast was hardly developed. However ill timed song sequences, and one too often undid what remained of it.
Mallika Sherawat did look sizzling in the item number, but I am sure she was taken in the film for more than that
I am happy for Ranvir Shorey. He actually tried his best to carry a weak script, underdeveloped cast, a cinematographic liberty once too often and a plot that looked like an afterthought. Ranvir Shorey has shown that he can carry a film on his shoulders provided some basics were in place on the other end
