Zamindar Virendra Shankar Roy's only son Deepu mended his disobedient ways when Indranath became his teacher. Later Deepu went to Kolkata to complete his higher studies in medicine and thereby fell in love with Indranath's daughter Shanti whom Virendra opposed. He insulted Indranath and Indranath then requested Shanti to marry Kamalesh Mitra. Shanti understanding her father's pain obeyed. When Deepu learnt about this he was shocked. Deepu vowed not to marry anyone else. In the meanwhile, Shanti was not leading a happy married life. Kamalesh's step-mother wanted to use Kamalesh's father's property for her own pleasures. Suresh provoked Kamalesh to set up a relationship with Lalita who was involved in the flesh trade. Shanti tried to compromise with them. Kamalesh's father was tortured badly by Suresh. Shanti took care of him. Lalita forbade Kamalesh from meeting her. One day Suresh took away some ornaments and cash from Subhasini's mausoleum. Lalita killed Suresh and surrendered to the police. Kamalesh's condition became serious. Shanti came to know from the newspaper that Deepu had become a famous doctor. Shanti met and requested Deepu to save her husband. Deepu did the needful and saved Kamalesh's life. Everything ended with Shanti and Kamalesh re-establishing their relationship once more.
