Via Darjeeling is not your usual Hindi movie. There is no typical Bollywood masala in the movie and obviously, short on star power. However, it's engaging and keeps you on guessing. It also plays with the power of imagination of human mind. The movie reminds you of all the fiction, that you have read where you can take part in creating the story in your mind. It shows, that sometimes, fact and fiction is hard to separate and it all depends on perspective and the narrator. Via Darjeeling could well be a typical setting in our daily lives, when friends come home and the ... » read more

A very different narrative, somewhat inspired by Kurosawa styled story telling, is that hooks you here. twisted imaginations, criss-cross tales of an unsolved mystery keeps one on the edge, though i feel that the pace, had it been a bit faster, could have made the killer punch.
It's heartening to see a different breed of actors (Vinay Pathak-Rajat Kapoor team) emerging from the star-struck industry underlying the fact that today's audience prefer performers rather than the stars. it's that strong performances and a interesting story that makes Via Darjeeling a memorable ... » read more

Well a hat ke film for sure. However Nandy tried to give some masala into the film by adding song and dance, Via different style although.

The film is little weak on script, could have been a little tight. Also becomes a little slow in between and not being able to hold interest. Editing could have been better.

A good movie nonetheless and kind of movie which grows on you.

I wish Nandy had used the scenic beauty of Darjeeling a little more. » read more

    WHY NOT DARJEELING ...

With names like Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Sonali Kulkarni to its credit, u walk into the cinema hall to watch Via Darjeeling with a lot many expectations. Few of them are fulfilled, while few aren’t. This is indeed experimental cinema which may appeal to a certain section of the audience, while for others it may appear to be confusing and too mind boggling.

Via Darjeeling is the story of a honeymooning couple Ankur (Kay Kay Menon) and Rimli ( Sonali Kulkarni ) who are very much in love with each other. On the day of their departure ... » read more

Arindam Nandy's directorial debut with Via Darjeeling is an example of Bollywood cinema coming of age. The film does not follow the trite rule of linear progression. In fact one can safely argue that the film is bereft of a specific storyline. From a conversation with the director I learnt that as a student of English literature, he was always fascinated with the oral tradition of story-telling, and so the concept of a collage of tales related to a few set individual characters. In fact one may also recall the situation of Canterbury Tales where all the pilgrims relate ... » read more

arindam nandy's debut film tends to engross initially but the weak script causes the story to fumble.after a point of time, nandy seems in desperate want of some creativity.the 'sandhya mridul-was-married to-kay kay menon' twist was unwanted. » read more

vinay pathak, kay kay menon, rajat kapoor, parveen dabas and to some extent sonali kulkarni are worth mentioning.ankur and rimli are convincing as couples and do justice to their roles.the film tends to drag towards the end and you can almost hear the audience sighing.nandy could have really excluded a couple of narratives in order to avoid complicacies.the spell-binding beauty of the location makes up for the partially weak script. » read more
