An intelligent and enjoyable piece of artwork from the master movie maker Benegal, which blends very well within today's social context. Right from Singur to the sms harakiri, you get to see a bird's view of things happening around you. The letter writer is YOU, Me and everyone.
Apart from the cinematic views, i think the film is very well positioned to do well in mass market. It has all the right ingredients to attract urban and rural viewers alike. Very clever moves indeed. or else, why would Shyam babu's film have a few stupid looking song-n-dance sequences which the multiplex audience feel unnecessary? The point is that the film targets beyond the multiplex, which probably justifies the inclusion of Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishen, even though his bizarre facial expressions and irritating grins would put you off.
One should also take note of the UTV sub-brand Spotboy which is producing some really good movies like Aamir, A Wednesday etc thesedays. Made with modest budgets armed with new talents and some good experimental scripts, Spotboy has been really timing well these movies in the market to get away with right monetary and critical gratification from the viewers. A welcome relief indeed from the ovedose of star-power and all rotten glitterati.
