    Almost well done

After taking us for a joyful ride of Sajjanpur, Shyam Babu’s next destination is the small town Chikatpally somewhere in Hyderabad, with a focus on the in-built corruption in the Indian democratic systems and the deep routed social discrimination. Is this journey pleasant enough? Well, almost…

Armaan Ali (Boman Irani), a car driver in Mumbai, takes a month leave to visit his hometown to find a bridegroom for his only daughter Muskaan (Minissha Lamba), who is looked after Armaan’s twin brother Rehman (Boman) and his wife Salma (Ila Arun). The couple is habitual ... » read more

    Swell done Mr. Benegal

Well Done Abba is quintessential heartland India issues sprinkled with everyday humor, presented on the big screen in a unique menu.

It's about corruption at all levels of the administration, starting from the grassroot panchayat level going all the level upto the minister. It also takes a dig at the women's quota in politics, when the man in the house controls the administration in the name of the woman who holds the post. It will please our backward minded ministers a lot, who have been calling any attempt to ratify the bill a farcical exercise. It's also about ... » read more

Shyam Ji – The real Abba of real India.

Shyam Benegal is one of finest director our country has ever produced. This guy has captured the Real India in so many different and unusual ways. In the times of Masala Potboilers he made his own niche with his own actors like Naseerudin Shah, Shabhana Azmi, Smita Patil, etc. Most of his films were either hard hitting or Bio- Epics. In between he made few films which were directly from heart and had some good light moments like Suraj ka Satvan Ghoda, Hari Bhari, Mammo and his last attempt Welcome to Sajjanpur. Now he comes back with another feel good type of film “Well ... » read more

Shyam Benegal never fails to amaze the audience

Welcome to a new way of highlighting the old problems in India... bureaucracy, red tapism corruption and dirty politics. In this heart warming story, Shyam Benegal highlights all these problems in a very light hearted manner. The cast includes all the Benegal regulars ... Ila Arun, Rajit Kapur, Salim Ghouse, Ravi Kishan, Yashpal Sharma and Sonali Kulkarni. The biggest asset however is Boman Irani who carries the film flawlessly on his able shoulders. He is such an amazing actor and an absolute delight to watch. I also really liked the songs Meri banno hoshiyar and Hum ... » read more

when i saw the promo for the first time i thought would be more art film type but it was more of the light entertaining type of films by shyam benegal after his "welcome to sajanpur". almost the same cast of his earlier films mr benegal tries to get the best of his actors who perform to the core. Boman irani in both the roles was exceptionally good supported by his daughter mimisha. Also not to forget Ravi kishan who plays a desperate husband discussing his sexual desires with his wife sonali kulkarni was very hilarious. Rajat kapoor fighting with his wife for paying ... » read more

The 70’s saw a major arthouse upheaval in Bollywood. Positioning itself parallel to the mainstream cinema was a diametrically opposite school of filmmaking which churned out cinema that mirrored reality rather than provide an escape from it. One of the leading lights of this parallel movement was a man called Shyam Benegal. Benegal is a two time Padma awardee, seven time National Award winner for best director & a recipient of the nation’s highest cinematic honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He directed some of the masterpieces of the 70’s and 80’s such as Manthan, Nishant, ... » read more

what to say much when the director is Mr.shyam benegal.the movie is a complete paisa vasool, its a village based comic plot giving a strong message but without making it a nursery fable.shyam benegal with bomen irani makes an exclusive combination, driving the film to a standard of a good comic movie without a compromise.there were interest breaking moments in the movie but in the later half it keeps the audience atatched to their seats with will so as to see the message deliverd.its worth watching. » read more
