War movies depicting a group of soldiers against overwhelming odds are nothing new. For generations, moviegoers have been treated to cinematic recreations as well as new scenarios of fighting units in combat. Usually these films follow a typical formula that includes the tough and gritty commanding officer, the naive new soldier, the one with a woman and children waiting at home, and one who has difficulties with combat. In the new movie Battle: Los Angeles a new twist is given to the formulaic troops-in-combat picture which produces a mixed bag of results.

Battle of making ‘Aliens’ kind of flicks!

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles rating: 5 out of 10

Ever since I saw the most breathtaking movie "District 9", I became a big fan of such kind of alien’s movie and I also think that almost every filmmaker is looking for the next 'Alien Invasion' type flick in their respective filmography. So with respect to that every single movie about aliens attack seems to near multiplying its budget and spending hordes of bucks in their venture, and however this is the foremost of many alien type films to be released this year, and I really hoped that this movie would bring some magic, but unfortunately the magic turned to be utter ... » read more

    Boom-Bang!

Before even the movie starts in, we are made to thrust into the invasion of Earth by the Outer-Space forces. Its starts from News reports who proposes a highly disturbing insight into a shower smashing the south coast. With a battle-torn Los Angeles, at the same time as gun-fire rips through the metal which was followed fire, death and terror. Now the real movie Battle: Los Angeles has started. After that the film chucks you at once into the action, with bangs on, blast and destruction. Finally Los Angeles looks a disaster-prone sooner than you even have an option to patch ... » read more

It has Prons and Cons also…

Each and every year we get a rope of English blockbusters movies. The majority turns out to be an unmemorable and only 1 or 2 possibly stick out and are to be considered as a watchable. Films like ‘District’ series, then like 'Star Wars' tale is an exemplar of a blockbuster sequences that has had immense durability and that at the same time they are a lot of amusing. Then you have films like 'Independence Day' that are self-righteous to be senseless popcorn entertaining and had thrived at it. The trailers and posters for 'Battle: Los Angeles' showed some potential, but ... » read more

    War Movie with Aliens

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles rating: 7 out of 10

By Birsingh Sikri Hansdah(19 Mar 2011)

I went to see the movie last weekend with expectations of watching another Independence Day. But what I got was a totally different attempt at film making. This movie is Saving Private Ryan mixed with District 9 which makes the movie exciting to watch.

What begins as an alien invasion story soon turns out into a story of a few individuals in a situation like they have never faced before. Even though most of the times you know what is going to happen on-screen you can't help but enjoy the proceedings. The camera never stays still throughout the movie and this makes ... » read more

So is this yet another alien invasion story where america fights back? Yet another story where the American President stand in front of war torn White House delivering a speech of hope, love and in some cases declaring American Independence day as global Independence day? (The last one sucked big time) The answer is a yes and a no. Its a alien invasion story and it makes it clear from its name, its first frame but its a squadron of US Marines who lead the fight back under the aegis Staff Sgt. Michael Nantz played by Aaron Eckhart. Made in documentary style, the story is ... » read more
