Two people meet at a hill station and fall in love. The girl is a singer, the boy a student. The girl is an orphan. The boy's mother is against this union but Vikki and Sunita pledge their love in front of Lord Krishna & Radha in a temple and tie a garland around a pole, promising to love each other forever. As luck would have it, they meet with a car accident and Sunita's face is badly disfigured. Vikki's mother takes advantage of this situation, and tells Vikki a lie. She tells him that Sunita is dead. He is shattered. He loses interest in life. Then from encouragement from his best friend & mother he starts singing and earning money. With this money he wants to build a palace in Sunita's memory. In the meanwhile Sunita undergoes plastic surgery and changes her name to Kusum hoping to forget the past. However she loves Vikki too much. He comes in touch with her, and forces her to sing with him. Initially she refuses but relents when she comes to know his intentions. He speaks to her doctor who tells him to speak to his mother. His mother finally tells him the truth. He goes to find her in the old temple where they had first met. Rita, who is Vikki's fiancee comes to know about all this. She gracefully moves away and Vikki and Sunita live happily ever after.
